Drainage Infrastructure Design Tool

November 9, 2016

The MTO has introduced on October 28, 2016, a new update of the Intensity-Duration-Frequency curves (IDF) online application (Version 3). The update replaces the last version that was released in 2014. The new update was developed in a joint project with the University of Waterloo.

This latest version of the IDF application provides an enhanced Web-based application with the capability to provide future IDF values for use in design of MTO highway drainage infrastructure. Other enhancements include updated base data, improved statistical analysis, map interface, navigation and results information.

The new application is accessible through the following link: http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/IDF_Curves/.

Instructions on how to use the online application are provided on the introductory screen of the application. The “About” section of the site provides some of the technical background.
